The Boston Conservatory
All Pro Arts Consortium Members visiting the Conservatory Library must
check in at the Security Desk at the main entrance (8 The Fenway) with
their institutional ID card in order to gain access to the Library. Anyone
without proper identification will not be allowed in the Library.
Circulating Material:
Materials that circulate at the Albert Alphin Library include scores and
books from the music, dance, theater and liberal arts collections. Pro
Arts members may use materials at the Albert Alphin Library at The Boston
Conservatory at any time, provided that they are used in the library.
Pro Arts members wishing to borrow circulating items from the Conservatory
library should make a request through interlibrary loan.
Non-circulating Material:
Non-circulating materials may be used by Pro Arts members within the Conservatory
Library. These items include all sound recordings, reference books, and
periodicals. Pro Arts members will need to leave their ID at the circulation
desk when using sound equipment and recordings. Headphones are available
at the circulation desk. Periodicals may be requested at the circulation
desk. See a librarian for holdings.
Interlibrary Loan:
Pro Arts members may borrow Boston Conservatory Library circulating materials
via interlibrary loan by providing the following information to their
home institution Library Circulation Desk: item title, author/composer,
and Boston Conservatory Library call number (if known). The Boston Conservatory
has a lending period of 30 days from the shipping date for interlibrary
loan requests. Renewals are granted for a 26 day period, as long as the
item requested is not in demand or needed for a course. The Conservatory
Library does not provide photocopies.
